Default C or C++ as a second language?

Hi. Should I jump right into C++, or is it better to learn C first?
I'm not a total beginner; I know Javascript, but I obviously would

to learn a more powerful language.

Thanks,

In my humble opinion, I would recommand C. I *believe* C++'s OOP is
overkill for *most* applications. The objects also makes memory leaks
more likely. But since you are a beginner, it might be a good idea to
try something higher-level, like Java or something.
