Default Should Amazon have paid dpreview's group participants?

How is most of the value of dpreview derived? By the tests they do
(none in recent memory) or by the participants relaying their
experiences? Dpreview provides the venue, but the real value (much of
it) comes from the people who participate on the groups. Many
companies now use public forums as "trouble-shooting" mechanisms so
they don't have to have fully-staffed service departments. It is a
clever idea.
Amazon should have done a poll, amongst all groups as to the most
helpful and prolific posters, say top 10 on each group. Then they
should have sent them all a check.

There is a basic rule on moderated groups that if you don't follow the
beliefs of the majority, they go beserk. All of a sudden, opinion
becomes an attack. Too bad so many of the little sissies had such
fragile egos they couldn't take ANY criticism of their God, Olympus.

Making that remark on the Dpreview forums would get
you, slacko, banned, so be careful!
