Software to recover deleted image files

Any recommendations on software to recover deleted image files from a camera
memory card.
It is not my camera so I am not sure what type of memory card it is.
The images were deleted via the camera's delete function. No further images
have been taken on the card since deleting.

There are a number of good ones. I've had good luck with PhotoRescue.

I use it and it's always worked well. However, so does this freebie and
had I seen the freebie first I probably wouldn't have needed photorescue.

Benny,

I see you've gotten some good recommendations on software, but do want to
urge you to not use the card. All the picture data is still there and
should be easily recovered. Actually, the recovery process is beyond
trivial.

What happens in a deletion, and has since the early days of DOS, is the
first letter of the file is deleted in the table of contents. All you
need to do to magically "recover" the file is to replace it. Any disk
editor can do this - including using dd in Linux and editing the resulting
image before writing it back to the card.

Note that some software comes packaged on the higher-end media,
such as the Lexar CF cards. I've saved mine, but I don't actually *use*
it, because it is only for Windows or Macs. But if you saved the
programs which came with your media, you may find that they do what is
needed. If you just formatted it in the camera without looking at what
was on it, you'll have to download or buy something somewhere instead.
