I've been looking at this for a friend whos saving up for one in the UK about £120 or so. The canon ixus seem quite good, I assume nikon are just as good. He particually wants it to film gigs as his iphone6 is pretty uselss for that, he can get reasonble shots and videos but quickyl runs out of space too. But great for takign pictures of swans and the like in teh park so fine for genral purpose shooting and selfies :- I;d get one with at least a 8X optical zoom minium 1600 ISO, check specs carefully some go to 3200 ISO . But don't worry about that if all your pictures taking is done in daylight. +1 for Ixus (or the equivalent Nikons). I have an X-E1 as someone else suggested, the bigger sensor compared to compacts comes into its own in low light at gigs. The downside is size, cost, and to some extent the complexity. These were shot with an X-E1 using the 35 mm prime https://www.facebook.com/steve.radcl...482215369750.1 073741880.100000239545647&type=3 Let me fix that URL for you: https://www.facebook.com/steve.radcl...a.134648221536 9750.1073741880.100000239545647&type=3 Can't see any pictures since I can't be bothered to log in though... Yup! Facebook isn't exactly the optimal means for sharing images, especially with those who choose not to play the Zuckerberg game. I for one have never had a Facebook account, nor do I intend to. -- Regards, Savageduck |

Not ideal, but it happened to be where I had the images. For anyone who did look, excuse the brain fade, it's the 18 mm prime (but I think of it as a 35 mm equivalent). |

Looking for good picture quality, easy to use well made.... new or used Last year I bought a Panasonic DMC-ZS45 for $100 on sale on Cyber Monday, but the replacement model is a lot more. The main thing I wanted was the wide-angle (24mm). It's been fine, certainly it was the best $100 point and shoot at the time. It was at least $100 off the regular price when I bought it. This same camera is $140, used, at B&H now. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/801468317-USE/panasonic_dmc_zs45k_lumix_dmc_zs45_digital_camera. html One more think I liked about this camera is the in-camera battery charging. Not many cameras still have this feature, and they require an external charger. --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus |
