Then why do you compare compact cameras to DSLRs or medium or
larger formats?

These are all cameras, while cars and planes are different animals.

Cars and planes are all transport vehicles, designed to get you
from point A to point B, while, say, mobile phone cameras are
completely different animals than, say, large format cameras.

while giving you a not-very-detailed view of the scenery. Large format
cameras are more, uh, roomy& comfortable but take more time& effort
while giving you a more detailed view of the scenery.

Bikes are roomy, but uncomfortable. They give the best view of all.
Haven't found a comparable camera.

In both cases the differences lie in capacity and quality.

Exact.

Planes are cramped and uncomfortable but get you there quick while
giving you a not-very-detailed view of the scenery. Cars are more
roomy & comfortable but take more time & effort while giving you a
more detailed view of the scenery.

Commercial airships are much more roomy and comfortable, take
roughly the same time as cars, and give you a superb view of
the scenery. (Unfortunately, one was painted with what we now
use as rocket fuel.)

Phone cameras are cramped and uncomfortable but get you the shot quick
while giving you a not-very-detailed view of the scenery. Large format
cameras are more, uh, roomy & comfortable but take more time & effort
while giving you a more detailed view of the scenery.

I don't think large format is more 'comfortable'. It's vastly
more capable and gives you vastly more choices. But it's nothing
you carry without specific needs.

Yeah, but the controls are more friendly to big fingers.

You can have that with crop DSLRs.
