"Shelley" wrote in message news:GEWcd.2467$EP4.1568@trnddc06... I am looking for informations using a G-Claron 210/9 with 8x10" Will a G-claron 210 really cover 8x10? I'm skeptical. The 210 G Claron covers 8x10 with room to spare when stopped down to F22, even more room to spare as you stop down more. I used one on my Deardorff 8x10 for several years doing a lot of exterior architecture and landscapes. However, I don't know how it compares with any other 210 lens for 8x10, the G Claron is the only one I used. Not according to Schneider: http://www.schneideroptics.com/photo...aron/chart.htm |

F22, even more room to spare as you stop down more. I used one on my Deardorff 8x10 for several years doing a lot of exterior architecture and landscapes. Not according to Schneider: So you're suggesting I was lying when I said I used it and it covered 8x10 or what? All of the lenses in the G Claron series cover substantially more than Schneider's image circle numbers show when they are stopped down to about f16 to f22 and the coverage continues to increase as they continue to be stopped down. I presently use a 240 G Claron for 8x10. Schneider shows it as having something like a 305 image circle IIRC whereas 8x10 requires about 325mm but in fact it has ample coverage for 8x10 with movements when stopped down to f22 or smaller. The use of the 210mm G Claron for 8x10 has been asked and answered affirmatively many times. Check out the archives at www.largeformatphotography.info. "f/256" wrote in message ... Saying that according to the manufacturer the lens doesn't cover 8x10 doesn't imply that you are lying, unless you are suggesting scheneider is lying when you say the lens does cover 8x10 and then some!! It just means you are happy with the resolving power of the lens at the edges of 8x10, but the manufacturer is not. This is a simple case of YMMV. Guillermo |

I'll have assume the G Claron will cover 8x10 though I've not used the 210
version but I can tell you the 305 covers 7x17 (my Korona) making it a fine 11x14 (My Seneca) WA and yes I've used it for just that and no falloff I've ever noticed though its movements are rather limited. The G Clarons are exceptional lenses and are very much understated of their covering power when stopped down. I've commonly heard the 210 G Claron would cover 8x10 and would never doubt it! I'm a G Claron believer!! One of the best LF lens buys out there and compact too! I currently use the older 210 5,6 Fuji W (the little 58 mm threaded version) and it covers 8x10 with ease! Thanks to all for the information.
After that I got a very nice second hand one and tried it. It does cover 8x10" with enough coverage for my personal use and the fixed bellow on my Zone VI camera.
