recommendations for photo software
I have a Fuji F30 that I use to take land and underwater photos, and find the FinePix
software inadequate. I'm looking for software that will allow me to see the camera settings for each photo and to correct colors of my scuba diving photos. Something not too complicated. Adam |

Adam I recommend Paint Shop Pro or Picture Window Pro. Both programs are oriented toward photographers as opposed to Photo Shop's graphic design functions. They are much less complicated, do all that any photographer can need, and cost WAY less. L.C. |

Has really high-end user interface, it's extremely powerful. It's a "pro-level" package in the sense that it's for producing professional-level results by people willing to learn how, rather than trying to produce adequate results really quickly for people who don't want to learn much. I prefer that approach myself; you pays your money and you takes your choice :-). However, there are things in photoshop that I, as a photographer, really really love having, that these other programs don't. The primary one being adjustment layers. Adjustment layers let me use a non-destructive workflow, where I can make little adjustments over time or change my mind entirely, without having to either accept degraded pixels, or start over from scratch with a clean copy. |

Adam I hope you shoot in raw mode. Its the best way to recapture the 'true' colours. I prefer Adobe Photoshop CS2, but there are plenty of other choices. Any chance of seeing some shots yet? The Fuji cameras are quite popular with underwater photographers, particularly the E-900. That would be my choice if I was in the market for a new one. |

Paint Shop Pro 7.04 gives me better JPG results than Paint Shop
Pro 11 does. They must have changed the filter or something, cause 7.04 just blows away 11 for image quality when I save as a JPG. "Adam Helberg" wrote in message link.net... Adam FastStone Image Viewer. http://www.faststone.org/ Color correction features and EXIF information access. Best of all it's freeware. -Felder |

Lightroom (beta). dwight The beta expires on Feb 28, 2007. Get it soon! I second the motion for Paint Shop Pro; others like Elements. Either is a very good low-cost ap. -- Jesse Jackson said Thursday it's all but certain he will endorse Barack Obama for president. Let the bidding begin. Barack Obama has already offered ten million dollars and a cabinet post if he will endorse Hillary Clinton instead. |

You can see my photos on http://new.photos.yahoo.com/partfeli...86622974#page1 It was my first use of a digital camera and the first time I had to deal with shutter lag. The photos were shot in JPEG mode and at 6 megapixels; I used the underwater mode. Let me know if you have advice. Adam |
