I like it better rotated so that the top of the coin (and the top of the
keyboard) are up in the image.

I hear rumors that your government is considering replacing the fiver
with a coin?

Yeah, the coins are cheaper in the long run. But, who wants to walk around
with $150 in metal coinage clinking around in their pocket?

The masses aren't warming to the idea all that well ...

Dudley

Which means we'll do it in fifty or sixty years. That's about how long it took
us to adopt the Canadian idea of printing different denominations of notes in
different colors.

Then why don't you make them out of light, strong, durable PLASTIC? You could
call it the "RichA". ;^)

It's been suggested, using plastic, not the name...

But, bi-metal coins are harder to counterfeit than plastic chips...

Still, I wouldn't be surprised to see plastic coins with embedded microchips
in the future...

Dudley

It is already being done in some casinos, with chips/tokens. Some have
holographic designs on surface layers. Some high end tables use micro-chip
tagged chips, so cash outs are computer counted, and any bogus chips are
ignored for the count.

There are issues related to durability. Metal coins are pretty durable and
long lasting. Gaming chips, regardless of materials improvement over the
years, still have to be recycled and replaced regularly due to wear &
tear. They also change designs and colors regularly to keep ahead of
counterfeiters.

The only problem we've encountered with the metal coins was with the $2
coin. Shortly after it was released, there was a number of coins that had
to be taken out of circulation because the two metals didn't bond properly.
Apparently, the mint fixed the problem, and they've been very reliable.

Personally, I like coins. They're a lot easier to identify than bills, and
I don't have to keep pulling my wallet out for every little purchase. Just
pull a couple of coins out of the pocket, and presto, the coffee is paid
for.

But, as alluded to earlier, too many in the pocket can also be a problem.
Even light weight metals can get a bit heavy if too many coins find their
way into the pocket.

Take Care,
Dudley

I'll bet you'd be absolutely ecstatic to see them, and see them clearly.

True, but irrelevant. We'll accept an idea from the Canucks (though it may
take us sixty years to do so), but we'd NEVER accept an idea from the Brits or
from the other countries of Yerp. ;^)

Most bills I carry are $20.00 so see no issue with $5.00 coins so long
as it stops there.
