I saw a program on the TV and it was claimed most cameras are built in
china. is this true ?

There's lots of them! For instance, the Kodak Brownie is not built in
China, nor the Pentax Spotmatic, or any camera that's no longer in
production, for that matter.

I haven't seen such a tag, but it did have a sticker on one of the rear side
windows that said that it was built by auto workers in Indiana when I got
it......And I notice that Toyota is advertising on the Television that it
employs many American workers at its various USA assembly plants......Sort
of a ,"Don't have to buy American" message.....

Most probably only high end stuff (pro) is still made in Japan.
I'm pretty sure that the only thing I own that was made in Japan is my
car...

And in the US for that matter. Toyota is one of America's biggest
employers.

And every BMW Z4 is built in South Carolina, even the ones sold in
Germany.

Quite a few go through India, but "most" is a massive overstatement.

My Toyota Corolla and my son's Tacoma pick-up were both built in my
hometown, Fremont, California

Probably assembled in your hometown with parts that were made in Japan.

We have a very big Toyota plant in my hometown, but they don't
manufacture anything - it's just an assembly line.

Is Taiwan in China?

A complex question. The Chinese government says yes, most of the rest of the
world says no. Taiwan's history involves the Dutch, the Japanese, and the
Chinese.....
