Panasonic FZ5
Since the camera has no hot shoe, has anyone found a slave unit that
will work with it? Can a flash unit with a PC cord work on the PC conection on the camera? The manual only gives instructions for connecting to a printer or pc. No mention of connecting to a flash and I don't want to blow anything out in the camera. |

Mine just says "D.C. in 8.4 volts" so I guess I am limited to finding a
slave unit that will work with the camera. It's unfortunate that Panasonic doesn't have any sort of on line support. Thanks for the help. |

That means it doesnt have a PC connector for flash.. your only option is to use a slave working off the built in flash. -- Larry Lynch Mystic, Ct. You should take a look at Metz slave systems, I use one and am totally happy with it. http://www.metz.de/en/photo_electronics/ Robert |

I appreciate your recommendation on the Metz. I bought a 28 CS-2, and
it is a beautiful piece of equipment. Compact, light-weight, and even has a built in swivel base (folds up when not in use) to attach to the camera. It also has settings for preflash (focus) and red eye preflash. Unfortunately I can't see any difference between the exposure with or without the Metz unit, which would seem to indicate that the slave is going off either before the shutter opens or after it closes. Do you know if the FZ5 uses a focus preflash? I am reasonably certain that it does, but the manual doesn't address this. (My thanks also to Larry on the P.C question.) |
