Default spot on image in Fuji 4700Zoom

Greetings; First time post with a problem ... my Fuji4700Zoom has acquired
a spot on the display which is also present on acquired images, but even
more visible when macroscopically zoomed in optically. I have cleaned the
exposed lens face and changed out the storage card. Neither has removed the
spot. Question: Is the spot the result of a damaged ccd unit in the camera,
and if so, is it cost effective to have it repaired? If it is not the ccd,
how to diagnose? I am in a rural area away from high-tech expertise.
Thanks for your attention.

PJ

Can you post a sample image on a Web site somewhere?

If it is a pink spot, it could be sun damage. Any chance you may have
exposed the sensor to direct sunlight? It can damage the colour filters
in front of the actual CCD.

Cheers,
David
