Another 8-Megapixel Camera Phone Appears As Samsung Launches The i8510

Author: Desire Athow| Date: 25 July 2008| Tags: Mobiles, samsung

The race for the phone with the largest number of pixels is heating up
as Samsung has announced the release of the i8510, also known as the
innov8, shortly after Sony Ericsson pushed out the C905.

The move could see the demise of low cost, entry level digital still
cameras as Samsung has also integrated a number of interesting
features like dual-LED lights, autofocus, smile shot, blink shot and
face recognition, all of which should make you an altogether better
snapper.

The phone is also equipped with a mighty 2.8-inch LCD screen capable
of displaying 16 million colours and will include either 8GB or 16GB
flash memory - enough to rival the iPhone - while an external SDHC
memory slot can accommodate another 16GB worth of storage.

The handset is also compatible with DiVX, Bluetooth, USB 2.0, WiFi and
is Quad band capable while offering 3D surround sound.

Samsung will also bundle the i8510 with two mobile games, Asphalt and
FIFA 2008 in a bid to get the interest of casual and hardcore on-the-
road gamers.

It will also integrate GPS functionality though advanced GPS which
will allow on the fly geotagging of pictures (and hopefully the
gorgeous 30fps videos the camera can produce).

The i8510 will be powered by a Symbian OS, version 9.3 S60 3rd Edition
Feature Pack 2 and will all the usual applications one can expect on a
high end smartphone.

Although the price has not been disclosed yet, expect it to be at
least worth £500 and available only on the highest-priced contracts.
