The shutter count is about 30,000. Assuming that I now need a new DSLR, I see there is a range of options. My D80 had a focusing mechanism in the camera body, and I have one portrait 50mm lens that requires this. Any recommendations? I saw a D750 and D3500. What can the 750 do that the 3500 cannot besides full frame sensor/ Thanks My D80 died too. I have the D3400 now with no motor. I really don't like the way it handles. especially in the manual mode. I don't know if the D3500 has the internal focus motor. I doubt it. Personally I'd bite the bullet and get a higher end model like the D750. I have a lot of older Nikon glass. It is very impractical to use them on the D3400. I get by with the slow kit lens. 18mm - 50mm, 70mm - 300mm and 18mm - 135mm. I do miss being unable to use my Nikor 180mm f2.8 ED IF. I had a D90 that shutter jammed too. I liked it much better than the D3400 except for it's 24MP sensor. Still the D3500 + two kit lens price is a selling point OP here I ended up getting the D3500 mainly because I like to attach it to my Fieldscope and it is half the weight of the D750 or D7500 (not to mention 1/3 the price. If you're hiking around with the Fieldscope and tripod, the weight of the camera matters. It is definitely a step up from the D80, and not being a pixel-peeper, I think it will fit me for now. It comes with an 18-55 VR lens and while I don't believe VR is necessary for 55mm, it is still a lens I do not have. -- m-m www.mhmyers.com |

It turns out that if I wanted a Nikon with a focus motor, I would have to pay an extra $500. for a different camera that weighs a lot more. it's more than just the motor. the d7* series have a *****load* more features and more controls instead of menus. |
