Default Nikon L35AWAD - Rewind failure

I have a Nikon L35AWAD underwater compact that I picked up at a flea
market. Works fine except for the rewind lever, which is on the base of the
camera. Turning the lever does not start the rewind, so I have to unload
the camera in a dark bag.

Is there a trick to getting the rewind to work (I don't have a manual), or
is it simply a matter of turning the lever while power is on?

Anyone have any idea of how difficult these waterproof cameras are to
disassemble if I want to fix it?

Thanks Glenn

You will probably find a lot of "O" rings in it to keep the water out, and
you may destroy some of them taking it apart....If you do, you can buy
replacements from:
