In B&W yes. (Well in color too! Everything will turn red or
black...) red in B&W is a strong contrast filter for daylight
shots... really makes the sky dark on the print and the clouds
stand out...

In my experience it also darkens grass and foliage, so use with
care.

It's been about 3 years since the last time I used my red
filter... and at that on C-41 B&W (ugh).

Cheers,
Alan

No flash?

Nope, don't have any sort of flash. I've been refraining from getting one,
because i'm trying to not take 'snapshots'all the time, and that'd make it
too easy. Plus, a flash I suspect would nearly double the size of the
k100, and it would just be to big and stupid to carry around.

Well, sometimes you have to do what you have to do... what lens
(maximum aperture) are you using?

Its a 50mm lens. Although, I just found out yesterday, or just
realized yesterday, that my batter in my camera was dead, and the
light meter was just sitting in the middle, now matter what the
lighting. I -think- it was working at that time tho.
