Question re SLR's and video recording...
I suppose this qualifies for the "dumb questions" category,
but... When shooting video with a mirror based SLR, how does one view the subject? Through the viewfinder? Wouldn't the mirror have to be raised continuously for recording video? The digital cameras I've owned (to this point) haven't been SLR's. Just wonderin'... |

"Live View" or whatever each manufacturer calls their live view via the LCD. Through the viewfinder? Nope, the LCD. Wouldn't the mirror have to be raised continuously for recording video? Yes. The digital cameras I've owned (to this point) haven't been SLR's. Just wonderin'... Now you know. -- Regards, Savageduck |

Question re SLR's and video recording...
John Albert:
I suppose this qualifies for the "dumb questions" category, but... Nope, not a dumb question. When shooting video with a mirror based SLR, how does one view the subject? Through the viewfinder? Wouldn't the mirror have to be raised continuously for recording video? The digital cameras I've owned (to this point) haven't been SLR's. Just wonderin'... Yes, the mirror is up. And the rear display reflects what is being recorded. Which is OK except in bright lighting when that display is difficult to see. I tend to make the kind of videos linked below, so I don't need to watch the display. I watch the subject and when it is no longer doing what I want it to do, or I've just had enough, I stop recording. Here's a short DSLR video for your viewing enjoyment https://vimeo.com/primordial/clumsy-crane-fly. -- I agree with almost everything that you have said and almost everything that you will say in your entire life. usenet *at* davidillig dawt cawm |
