It's a long story, but who might
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...24881-head.jpg be?
Does anyone know?

I ask because he might just be someone from film and screen and
someone might remember him from the past.

That's a possibility which hadn't occurred to me but under the
circumstances it might - just - be true. However the photograph is
from some 15 years ago and the hairstyle would possibly have been
current for the time. I think I would stick with the person being male
for the time being.

Might be a prank of yours, but doing a google search on that image only turns
up gay sex pages.

On the off chance that it's not a major news story in NZ, that's
Caitlyn Jenner (formerly Bruce Jenner) on the couch.

Aaah - thank you.

No it's not a prank. Here is the background:

Nearly twenty years ago I took a series of photographs on film at my
mother-in-law's 85th birthday dinner. One of these was a photograph of
my lively 12 year old nephew performing in front of a darkened window.
This was a rather spectacular photograph. I made a number of sets of
prints and distributed them to people who had been at the dinner.

Some years later I was told that the photograph of my nephew had been
seen on the Internet. I started looking for it, which I have done on
and off ever since.

One day I mentioned this to a friend of mine who lived about 600 miles
away and he decided to help me in my search. By this time I had lost
track of both the negative and the print of my nephew (They may be
somewhere amongst the thousands of uncatalogued old negatives and
prints in various boxes around the place) but I was able to give my
friend a general description of the photograph I was looking for.

Over the following years my friend bombarded me with links to
photographs which were not the one I was looking for. One of the sets
of photographs he sent me included image [1]
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...03/1224881.jpg This is the
source of the photograph of the head at the top of this article.

The reason I posted a head was that relatively recently, using Google
image search, I came across image [2]
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...nthenweird.jpg which
purports to be a photograph of Devon Sawa, an actor of some kind from
the past. However Devon Sawa denies that this is genuine photo of him
https://twitter.com/devonesawa/statu...96840680304640

I've now got hooked on deciding which photograph is a copy of what:
whether [1] is a very good Photoshop job done on [2] or vice versa. I
thought I might get closer to that if I could find out who the person
was in [1]. Hence my original question.

My own strong suspicion is that [1] is the original.

In the mean time, my mother-in-law has died at the age of 99, my 12
year old nephew is now completing a PhD at an age of slightly over 30,
and my long-time friend who helped me with the search has died from a
heart attack. I have given up on the search for the photograph but I
still have an urge to tidy up the loose ends.

Eric Stevens
