Did he survive?


Yes he was thrown overboard in 1917 but was resued, but was
virtually paralised and was retired[1] from the Navy from mteh waist
down.


But his upper body continued to serve? :-D

[1] not sure that's the correct term of teh time when leaving the
service due to disability, he died in 1942.
