Is there a page anywhere that lists the AF speed of each Nikon camera? I have
looked and can't find one. I have noticed that my D800 seems to focus much
more quickly than my D700 and D600 with the older lenses. Apparently, buying
a battery grip will increase the AF speed even further.

find out what focus module is in each camera and research that.

tl;dr newer cameras focus faster.

That tells me how well the AF sensors work but the current available to drive
older AF lenses and, I believe, newer AF-S lenses also differs from body to
body. For example, the motor in my D800 drives my AF 35~135 much more quickly
than my D600 will.

the higher end cameras generally have more powerful motors for
cam-driven lenses.

i remember seeing data on focus speed and how the various modules
differed. it's out there.
