It seems to me that the OP in that dp forum has a bigger issue with shooting technique, rather than an equipment problem.

One guy
posted a crappy shot of a bird and promptly blamed the lens.


depends why it was crappy. it could very well have been the lens.

I'm not a
machine-gunner, but when it comes to stuff like this, firing off a few dozens
shots will earn you a couple good ones, but firing one to two shots only may not.


that depends on many things.
