Default canon 17-40mm and filter?

Has anyone here put a circular polarizer on the Canon 17-40mm f/4 L lens?
If so, is it a thin filter and do you notice any vignetting? I am trying to
decide which filter to purchase.

It depends on which camera you use the lens on. With a 10D or a 300D,
because of the "crop factor" of 1.6, you would have no vignetting. A full
frame camera would.

I'm not sure about a 1.3 crop factor camera.

It won't matter at all.
Remember that the view will only be as wide as a 27mm lens, so you won't
have a problem.
You may wish to buy the thin version anyway, just so you'll be prepared down
the road if/when you upgrade to a full-frame sensor, but the thin version is
a lot more money (I have one, and I think it was well over $100).
