How Many Have Switched?

wrote: I know the film/digital war has been raging in this group forever, and looking back on some of the posts, there were some people swearing they'd never ever switch to digital. So, since that time, in the last 5 years, how many of you pros have switched to digital, and were you one of those who swore thay never would? I don't know any pro that was dead set against digital. Most have to keep a more open mind than that. Also there are a significant number of reasons as to why digital simply makes good business sense. Is it better than film ? Nope. Does that matter to the pro ? Nope. What matters in the end ? Is the client satisfied and did you make an acceptable profit. We're not talking art here. We're talking meat-&-potatoes on the table and a couple of vacations a year. Will I personally ever go completely digital ? Nope. Will I use it for any commercial work that finds it necessary of convenient ? Absolutely. Digital is just another tool. Much like a light meter. Like I said, it's not as good as film but then again we're talking about clients that generally have no clue what quality is as can be seen from the number of people making huge low-quality enlargements from 35mm in the late 90's. == John - Photographer & Webmaster www.puresilver.org - www.xs750.net |
