punch cards and a seemingly endless series of QIC, DAT and 8mm
tapes.

I would suggest that the majority of material that gets lost
isn't worth much and the rest people will spend money to
preserve.

Exactly, Computer porn, MP3s and digital cameras weren't prolific in
the days of punched cards. The anti-digital pundits just bring this up
because they are grasping at straws.
