Roll Film Backs
I was eyeing the Shen-Hao, in particular because it could mate with RB67
backs with a relatively inexpensive adaptor. They've stopped offering the adaptor at Badgergraphic, and I can't find it anywhere else, so now I'm looking for an alternative. I have several RB backs, to go with my RB, so I'd like to stick with those if possible. If not, what roll film backs can be adapted to large format cameras, and how? Thanks. -- Regards, Matt Clara www.mattclara.com |

Calumet (Cambo) roll backs fit any 4x5 spring back. Slide in like a polaroid holder. Several other versions from other makers as well. -- Robert D Feinman Landscapes, Cityscapes and Panoramic Photographs http://robertdfeinman.com mail: |

I have two for my 4X5 Speed Graphic.Standard Graflock mount. Thanks, that seems to be what I'm looking for. A little more investigation reveals that the most recent of these were labeled Rh10 (6x7) and Rh8 (6x9). Anyone care to confirm or deny this? Yep, correct. There's a 'standard size' graflok fitting that you get on 4x5s, and the baby Graflok which is what you have on the Mamiya RB67, and also on such things as miniature Speed Graphics. The 'RH' ones (there's also an RH12 that does 6x6 and an RH20 that does 6x7 on 220) are the later models, with lever rather than knob wind: they are preferable as you get better film flatness. Check, especially in the 6x9 ones, that you have a needle-roller like bearing at each end of the film gate, as this is what makes all the difference in flatness, and a few of the earliest lever winds supposedly don't have them. The RH8 is closer to 6x8 than 6x9 - the knob wind versions (23s) are closer to 6x9, but not so flat. RB backs are indeed the same fitting as the 'baby Graflok'. I've never known anyone who's tried an RB motorised 6x8 back on a Graflok back, but who knows... Peter |
