My Canon Powershot S1IS pictures are now all streaky (up and down) what happened?

Sounds like the defective Sony sensor mentioned in this Canon recall notice.
The S1IS is mentioned.

Be sure to mention the above notice when you call in the repair.

I just had the same thing happen on a Canon A70. Canon fixed for free,
including shipping each way.

Here's a sample picture you can compare. It shows the vertical streaking.

You'll also note that the number of models affected is massive. Sony
screwed up big time.
