My brother bought a D600 a while ago, then barely used it. Too big &
heavy, too hard to use it (he never managed to learn how to use it).

it's very easy to use.

Any camera is easy to use, if you know how.

and even if you don't.

start off by setting it to 'p' and let the camera do all of the work,
then move on from there at whatever pace is comfortable.

if someone understands photography, they can figure out how to use an
slr, including the d600, as well as any other camera.

plus, instant feedback makes it incredibly easy to learn, more so than
film cameras.

the limitation is almost always the user, not the camera.

I know three experienced and
serious photographers who got it for close up work, but for one reason
or another, all three did not like using it. Two of them are now using
Fujis, and the third a Sony. I am not sure which models.

whatever works, but that's a rather specialized application and one
well within the abilities of the d600, which suggests that they
probably didn't have the camera configured appropriately.

As many as you can hold steady that your lens can resolve... 24MP that
is "expected" and that that you should be looking for as a minimum in
new gear if you're "ambitious"...

But as long that the 1Dx2 is current I guess that you can get by with
18.
With the current premium lens lineup and the use of a tripod 60MP would
be ideal for FF.

The best camera is the one that you have with you and the EOS M with
four lenses fits my snug messenger bag nicely and even a coat pocket
solo with the 22/2.0 pancake mounted... And yes: My arms are good enough
to use it now! :-))

Seems you are posting everything twice.

he posts multiple times, cancelling each previous version every time he
makes a revision, knowing full well that most usenet servers do not
handle cancels, resulting in multiple posts to the reader.

Supersede is a part of the Usenet protocol that should be recognized by
a properly configured server...

it's best to edit and revise *before* posting.

With a higher resolution you get more crop ability, less sharpening
artifacts and etc etc...

... and more susceptibility to my increasingly shaky hands.

It doesn't seem that long ago that I could hand hold my F3, with a 300mm
at 1/125 and get a reasonably sharp shot, that I enlarged to 8x12. If it
wasn't for VR I could not even come close. Now I must use a remote
release so I don't move the camera down when shooting.

At 50MP you'll have little need of an
antialiasing filter since the sensor out resolves most but not all
lenses and skipping the AA will give you even more resolution... That
said: I really like my 8MP 1D2! :-))

Youpp. To get full advantage of HR you have to put the gear on a tripod,
me guess... I do think that most people can take good advantage of 30MP
handheld though. At least with IS.

"...billboard prints made with pictures from an iPhone..." - then why do
100MP medium format cameras exist, if a smartphone can do the same?

Good question... Just look at the pictures!

And that's an attack against the Usenet if anything!

Pah! Raise you the 10.2MP of my NikonD80!
Still going strong, still producing super saturated colour.
