Default Leica Dying

Wow looks like Leica is going to bite the dust.
http://www.spiegel.de/wirtschaft/0,1518,342973,00.html

It was only a matter of time I figured before this happens.

Where's Uraniumcommit??? He'll know what to do.

I used Google to translate, in its typically accurate way, and the last
paragraph was particularly telling....

`Leica overslept and suffers the trend to the digital photography from
losses. Besides the weak dollar impairs the business abroad, because
the cameras become more expensive larva in Germany thereby.`

Yes, those Leicas are just more expensive larva. (O;

Here is what DP Review has on it
http://www.dpreview.com/news/0502/05...ialtrouble.asp

Photography is going digital, this can be seen in the sales numbers of
both cameras and film. A camera compnay that fails to recognize this
will not last long. It is sad that they have falling on such hard time
but also inevitable.

The real question is...
Will their demise mean LESS babbling-on by Leica-heads, or MORE in the years to follow???

Methinks MORE...
(sigh)

If the people who claim that you can only make a good hi-fi amp using
tubes are any indication they will never stop babbling. =20

On the other hand...(fair is fair)...it seems that we could get to the moon with a slide
rule...yet would reportedly struggle to get there today with the aid of super-computers!
