Why Do-It-Yourself Photo Printing Doesn't Add Up (NYTimes)
All of this is true if the paradigm of photography is the snapshot, which is
indeed the case for the mass market consumer. One would hope that readers of this newsgroup aspire to better. If your idea of a good print is straight off the memory card from Walmart then you get what you pay for. Nice and cheap like Sam's cola and just as tasty. There really is no digital revolution at all that way and the nineteenth century Kodak model of lousy prints from lousy originals for people who don't know the difference anyway is still alive and well. .. |
