Think I will wait for the 2 1/4 square sensor

:-)

It won't be "affordable."

It used to be said of Rolls Royce cars that if you needed to ask the
price, you couldn't afford one.

Rolls Royce is just a midrange piece of bling compared to this;
http://www.caranddriver.com/bugatti/chiron

When it can outrun a 1988 Trans Am then I"ll be impressed.

To be honest, it would be very hard to find even an enthusiast car
these days that cannot outrun one of those. A Nissan Juke has more
horsepower.

And another fish bites.

Well I guess, but that's about as much a 1988 TA as Nascar's racers
are Toyotas.

If an '88 Trans Am could outrun my 1.6 litre Miata on a twisty road I
would be impressed.

Can the Bugatti do it?

Probably.

If it could stop from 80mph five times in
succession without the brakes catching fire I would be even more
impressed.

That particular one can stop from THREE HUNDRED miles an hour without
catching fire. However if you think that the brakes are going to catch
fire because somebody stopped a Detroit muscle car from 80 mph 5 times
then you really need to get out more.

Drag-strip performance does not make a complete performance
car.

Well one would hope that for TWO MILLION DOLLARS the Bugatti did
_something_ that a 1988 Trans Am wouldn't do.

Look, be impressed by imitation Bugattis if you want to. I learned to
drive stickshift in a 333GTC. I got over being impressed by overpriced
cars a long time ago.

Before I downgraded to my E350 I had this in my garage:
https://db.tt/p22zxG9n

That '88 TA would be hard pressed to keep pace with the Porsches,
Audis, and Toyotas (and even Corvettes) running for 24 hours at Le Mans
last week.
....and as far as that Bugatti goes there is this to consider.

....but impressive, none the less, and still way too rich for me, but I
can appreciate it for what it is, just as I can appreciate a McLaren
P-1 for what it is.

Have you got a mirrorless model?

Chrysler's Drag Pack Hemi Challenger gets about 1500hp out of a lot
fewer cubic inches and costs about 1/26th the price of that Bugatti.

...but that Hemi isn't exactly stock, and you wouldn't use it as a
daily driver.

Does anyone use a Bugatti as a daily driver either?

I am sure that the owners of either the Bugatti Veyron or Chiron will
find time to drive either car as they please between driving any of the
other vehicles, such as the Ferraris, Koeningseggs, Bentleys, Aston
Martins, or McLarens in their stable.

At the time it was street-legal and passed California emissions. And
was running on street tires. That was the real point of it--not to go
fast but to go fast in a road car.

One thing I will bet is that it was NOT running on street tires.

Since writing the above I have actually looked it up and find that
according to http://www.gtasourcepage.com/galebanksturbogta.html
it was running on NASCAR oval track tires.

The body might be the only part that came out of the factory.
