Default Color temperature

Hi all,

Two friends of mine did some photos with their D2H and D70. After editing
with Photoshop for Mac, their using Apple iBook, they gave me the photos on
tiff format.

When viewing the photos on my PC, it is really a PC, I get the correct color
temperature using the follow applications:

- Photoshop CS 2:

- Microsoft Office (2003) Document Imaging;

- Microsoft Office (2003) Picture Manager;

Using the following ones, I get a higher color temperature, making the
colors colder:

- Picasa 2;

- Windows XP Slide Show;

I tried to convert the files from tiff to jpeg but I'm getting the exact
same results.

The strange fact is my photos taken with a D50 (jpeg, 6MP, Fine), have the
same color temperature in all the above applications.

Any guess?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards.

One more hint:

I've found that on Photoshop window title says (RGB/8*) instead of the
(RGB/8) on the pictures from my D50.

Thanks again.

Sounds like a color management problem where the embedded color profile
of the source file doesn't match the default color workspace. You
might try converting the file to the profile of the default workspace
and see if that helps.

Issue solved.

The files have a Nikon D2H generic V2 or Nikon D70 generic V2 profile. By
converting these profiles to Working RGB - sRGB IEC 61966-2.1, I'll get the
same color temperature no matter what application I am using.

The jpegs from my D50 have the Working RGB - sRGB IEC 61966-2.1 as standard
profile.

Regards.
