Default Recommendations on an inexpensive tripod head for a Canadian winter

Long story short, the Manfrotto 352RC ballhead that I bought this summer
for my 055CL is performing poorly in subzero temperatures. The clamp
can't lock down hard enough on the metal ball as it contracts in the cold.

What's my best bet for a head that performs well in low temperatures?
I'd prefer to keep costs below $200, and I'd prefer a quickrelease
system. Type of head and brand of head doesn't matter at all as long as
it fits the 055CL, and the heaviest weight it needs to support is Rebel
2K and Rebel XT using 28/2.8 and 50/1.8 primes.

Somebody ( forget who right now) makes one with a plastic ball in it....This
would probably be a good bet to not shrink too much in the cold......

I use the 322RC2 grip ballhead, which has been working just ducky for
me in cold weather with a F4 and telephoto lens perched on top. No
slippage issues.
