Correct dev. w/Pyro?
I have been dev. HP5+ (120mm) in liquid Pyro from Photog. Form. What signs
should I look for in the neg's to see if they are 1] over-developed, or 2] under-developed? I used the start times and processing rec's. in my "Book of Pyro" to begin. |

I used the start times and processing rec's. in my "Book of Pyro" to begin. It's difficult to tell. Negatives may look undercooked but print well because contrast "looks" higher to paper than to eye. This applies to VC paper as well as to graded, but in the order eye VC graded. The best way to find out what the paper sees is to show it the negative and see how it responds. In less abstruse words, make a contact sheet. While you're at it, if you use VC paper, try different contrast filters to see how they change the response. |
