A talent. Whereas the loss of you will be????
Wait , I have the answer. THe loss of Randall Ainusworth is
IMPERCEPTABLE! Like losing a wart, or a melanoma, the loss of Randall
Ainsworth in the digital forum did wonders for the pleasure of the
experience, and now losing him in the 35mm forum will make the pleasure
complete. So long, loser.

Sad news. His pictures may have been controversial but no one could
argue with his talent. The fact that "hot, young, avant garde" shooters of
the last 20 years have mostly recycled his ideas is pretty much an
indication of how great he was.

LOS ANGELES - Acclaimed photographer Helmut Newton was killed in a car
crash Friday, police said. He was 83.

Newton, a fashion photographer whose work appeared in magazines such
as Playboy, Elle and Vogue, was best known for his stark,
black-and-white nude photos.

Newton lost control of his Cadillac while leaving the Chateau Marmont
hotel in Hollywood and crashed into a wall across the street, said
Officer April Harding, a police spokeswoman.

Before hitting the wall, the car brushed an Associated Press
photographer who was arriving at the hotel on an unrelated assignment.

Newton was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he died a short
time later, Harding said.

Newton, who was Jewish, fled Germany for Singapore in December 1938, a
month after Nazi-led pogroms. He eventually settled in Australia and
became a citizen, then took up

Then you may want to check out his work, and then you may understand
why some folks (at least two) do not mourn his passing.

So I did. But I'm not one to put down someone just because I "don't get"
their vision. Not really my cuppa but is that any reason to be disrespectful
of him (or of his work)?

Wow. The man was a legend. Some of you say you never heard of him. Yet you
call yourselves photographers? He was an incredible artist with his camera.
I may have been a little squeamish about some of his photographs but I could
never say that any one of them was not shot and printed incredibly well.
Can't believe anyone would post here and not be embarrassed to admit they
never heard of the man. pathetic.

I certainly heard of him and often saw displays of his shots in Amateur
Photographer and other magazines. Not the kind of piccies I like, but he
knew what he was doing. Very talented.

Admittedly I have never heard of the man until today but the fact that
someone cared enough to post his obit on several NG's speaks volumes...

Lower your nose a bit, chappie.
I hadn't heard of him...but I can assure you that this particular detail
renders me neither a better nor worse photographer. Your particular and
demonstrated form of snobbery is indeed "pathetic", and quite unbecoming.
