If you must use a bitraster output, ideally you should match the DPI of

that is false, and you're confusing dpi with ppi.

normally, what is sent to the printer should be 300 ppi or greater,
however, for a sign being viewed from a distance, it's probably fine
with 200-240 ppi.

the printer dpi is a function of the printer and should be at its
highest setting for best results, although for something viewed at a
distance, it's probably fine if it's lower, which will save ink and
speed up printing.

But I have never used powerpoint.

it's the entirely wrong tool to use for generating signs.

It is not, and I'm not.

The rest I skip, unless you reply politely.

it very definitely is false and just about everyone confuses the two.

The rest I skip, unless you reply politely.

what you skipped politely explained what is needed for optimal quality.

here it is again:
normally, what is sent to the printer should be 300 ppi or greater,

with 200-240 ppi.

the printer dpi is a function of the printer and should be at its

speed up printing.

adding to the above:
one pixel in the image when printed is made up of multiple printer dots.

they are two different measurements.

Exactly.

The whole "methodology" he keeps talking about is so absurdly
irrelevant, convoluted and illogical that nobody who was actually
really trying to do the job concerned would even be thinking of doing
it like that.

That alone indicates a deliberate trolling effort to wind people up.

Not politely, your first sentence was offensive.
I read about it in the wikipedia instead.

Ignoring your post.

there is nothing offensive about what i said.

you made a statement that was false.

what *is* offensive is your refusal to learn why it's false.

has not exactly, in recent times been a frequent poster. In fact since

subject. So given what we have seen from him in this thread it has been easy
to mistake him for the troll łArlen Holder˛.

he just posted again in another group with a question about a topic
that 'arlen' has previously asked about, hiding wifi ssids from public
databases.

the evidence, which is already overwhelming, just keeps on growing.
