The guy is HCB in 1967. What camera is he holding? is it a Leica?

It is a Leica.

I can't tell which model but it is a screwmount Leica..

It is a Leica.

Get a battered beat up one and strip it and have it blacked. Gunsmiths
that specialize in the Smith and Wesson black chrome would do it (if
you strip it down all the way) or you could simply use a catalyzed
black enamel paint. If you were willing to chance warping it could be
enamelled. Powder coating might be possible as well.
Too bad Ed Romney isn't with us any more. He'd know...
