I got a 7D in late December. I've used it mainly with my
24-105/3.5-4.5. So far I like it a lot. Of course, so far I've just
been playing with it to see what it can do. I got it as an addition to
my Maxxum 7 and plan to use both. With the obvious exceptions (digital
vs. film) switching from one camera to the either takes surprisingly
little thought.

One of the things it lacks, which I found annoying, was the ability to
use the 5600HS-D as a wireless controller. Hopefully KM will fix this
as it would seem to be just a firmware issue.

This worries me. I was hoping that the 5600HS would work as a
controller for off camera 5400HS and 3500xi. I received some "insider"
info regarding the signalling used between the 7D and 5600HS (3600 too)
flashes and it is a whole new ball game, as they say).

I have tested the AS with wide FLs and it does a really good job. The
less you shake, the easier it is for it. And the shake LEDs in the
viewfinder are rather helpful. I plan on trying it with the 500/8
reflex fairly soon.
If anyone's interested I'll let you know what I find.

Post results.

Cheers,
Alan

Yes, I would be interested to know how the AS works at longer FL's,
thanks.

I've been quite impressed with the results from my 7D and Sigma 50-500,
at least while wandering about the neighborhood shooting scenics;
haven't had a chance yet to try some serious aviation subjects that I
really got the Sigma for...
