Default 20D GETS CLOSE !

One old adage about photography suggests that you should
always try to "get closer." One way to do that is to use a
long lens. Another way is to actually get close to your subject.

So with that in mind I took these pics this morning.

You really did take all those in one morning? You must have more
wildlife in a square mile than we have in the whole god-damned country!

Colin D.

PS: Excellent shots, that 20D really goes, for moderate size images at
least.

Many insects have "eyes" as warning camouflage to try to scare
predators away.

I am always impressed with your work Bret. You have some of the finest
nature close ups I have ever seen. But to be able to do all this in
one day? Your wife must be very understanding. [-)

Have a great weekend.

Thanks, but I was home by lunch. Those pics were all taken in a
couple of hours and most of them were within a few yards of each
other. That's the good thing about shooting macro shots of bugs. You
can find them almost everywhere you look. Of course it helps that the
place I go (Reflection Riding) is a virtual outdoor photo studio
featuring everything from wildlife to birds to flowers.
Like shooting fish in a barrel. I got herons and turtles to my left,
wild turkeys and deer to my right, snakes over there, caterpillars in
that tree, and if I look up I'm probably gonna see some hawks or owls
or woodpeckers.

...and with my luck I would I would get splattered by one of them
birds. When I looked up, that is.

Sounds like a wonderful place to be at on a nice day off.
