Most images are about 150KB, but I wasn't trying to be Dialup Friendly.

Very nice Jim! I particularly like the black and white cactus--has a nice
glow to it, it does.
I must say, though, everytime I see photos of Arizona, and the Phoenix area
in particular, I think, why in the world would anyone want to visit there,
let alone live there...?! It looks like something of a wasteland.

Thanks for looking Matt,

I went along on my wife's business trip as an excuse to get out of
town. And I will admit to being slightly hampered by a 2 ½ year old
that wanted to do something other than be pushed in a stroller. He very
helpfully announced near the top of his lungs anytime when changed our
incline. "UP! DOWN! UP!"

The Phoenix area is a wasteland, brought to life by imported (i.e.
stolen) water.

The first day out I learned some valuable lessons.
1. Don't try to use the interstates to get anywhere.
2. Security guards are grumpy when they have to go to the top of their
parking garage to chase you off for taking sunrise pictures on
"PRIVATE PROPERTY." "Can't you see, it is clearly not
labeled?"
3. It is very dusty when it hasn't rained for three months and the
idiots who want to farm are plowing their fields.
4. Weather conditions in February in the area are very comfortable
50-75F each day.
5. There are far too many golf courses and they obstruct what should
be through roads.
6. Plants in the dessert areas are dead, dying, dying; but don't
know it yet and dust.
7. Bring lots of water.

From these you can extrapolate; bring something to clean your lenses if

you are going to go, and don't go, unless you want to play golf, Bret
would love it if he could afford to get into the country clubs, you
can't even see into the courses from the grounds around them.

I brought way too much film, shot about a ¼ of what I brought; the
images on the website are composed of two rolls of Velvia 100F, Fuji
Superior 1600, FP4 for B&W, and a 20D.

The knowledgeable park ranger I spoke with basically said you aren't
going to see much other than some birds, dry plants and rocks. Snakes
won't be out until we've had a week of 80 degree weather.
Unfortunately I got this sage advice near the end of my stay.

The only saving grace was Pinnacle Peak as they had a well watered
hummingbird garden and the hummingbirds were only a little standoffish.

Go up through the Tonto National Forest. May be desert, but it's gorgeous.
