Default ANNOUNCEMENT: Foveon F19 Sensor

Finally the coveted Foveon technolgy is being made available to
compact camera market. I love my SD10, but it would be nice to have a
small compact for when I don't want to carry my heavy camera bag
around. This new sensor incorporates Foveon's breakthrough X3
technology to directly capture color in three layers, just like film.
I really feel sorry for Sony investors.

Hope this helps,

This is only a 1.5 megapixel sensor, and Foveon has lined up a single,
fourth tier, camera maker to use it, plus one scientific camera maker. I
don't think Sony is very worried.

Hope this helps...

It is my understanding that Polaroid abandoned digital cameras a while back.

almost 2 mp...

an even smaller sensor then the obsolete foveon x3.
even that is only 2500 x 1500.

modern sensors are about 3 times the resolution.

This sounds like the typical cross-posted Sigma SD10
troll crap again, looking at the original message.

I'm pretty open to Sigma. I have seen some of the test pictures from their
SD-10. I was impressed with the quality of the sensor but not with the
design and build quality of the cameras or lenses.

The SDx cameras output image resolutions that are on a par with any 6
MP Bayer sensor camera despite whatever resolution label you place on
it. Numbers mean nothing, the output is what matters.

No, they don't. The *seem* "as sharp", which is a completely different
thing than having the same resolution.
