I wonder why people are upset over Canon's Live Preview feature in their 40D and 20Da? There are people who don't like it? Personally, I can think of all kinds of uses for it, especially on a tripod. However, using it to take most photos simply means that you will not be able to hold the camera steady and your pictures will be blurred. |

"It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye" Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Hi Moonstarer! I am not upset personally nor do I think it's an upsetting matter. However I find that the LCD is not convenient in the sun most of the time. I would rather have an eyepiece to look into. I used to have a Canon Pro 1 which provided an eyepiece that was very usable on top of the LCD. I found myself using the eyepiece only ;-))) Marcel |

If you have used a high end EVF camera then you can appreciate the benefits
and problems of the EVF. The current technology for small screen displays does not approach the quality level of an optical through the lens viewing system. That probably will change but for the immediate future it is a fact. Right now it is nearly impossible to judge critical focus or to evaluate highlight and shadow detail on the best small displays because of their truncated resolution and color depth. This was a major problem with otherwise capable machines like the late Sony 828. I held out using one of these but it just could not compete with a dSLR, and the issue had nothing to do with sensor size. If the world goes to paperless viewing of photographic prints then the EVF will be a distinct advantage as it will have most of the qualities of the final processed image. However if one's end aim is a paper based print the task of previsualization will be more difficult if one has only an EVF with which to create the image. |

I wouldn't even mind if it had video as long as it has a good optical
viewfinder and image quality is high. Moonstarer wrote: Those who exort "This is just the beginning, soon they'll all have video". Sheesh On Tue, 28 Aug 2007 20:03:27 -0600, "Roger N.
