Two monitors with LR update - Problem
I use two identical Dell UP2516D 2560 x 1440 monitors driven by a
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Display adapter. The operating system is the current 1803 version of Windows 10. When using Lightroom I do all my editing etc in the left hand monitor and use the right hand monitor for a full screen display. I have found this arrangement quite satisfactory for the last several years but, now, I have just downloaded the latest update for Adobe Lightroom and have found the second monitor behaving in a peculiar fashion. The images in the left hand monitor are quite sharp (and true to color) as usual but the definition of those in the right hand monitor range from not quite sharp to totally blurry. The results are not consistent in that if in develop mode I switch from a sharp image A to image B image B may be blurry one time and sharp another time. And then image A may be blurry while C is sharp. There is no consistency in what I can expect. I use my own images as desk top background and I have found them to always be consistently sharp in either monitor on every occasion. I think I can rule out the monitor as the cause. My suspicion is that the problem is somewhere in the software. My question is, has anyone else experienced or heard of this problem? -- Regards, Eric Stevens |

I updated on June 18, and I have not noticed any issues. That said I am only using my Mac with a single display, and this is the first I have heard of this problem. It might be worth checking with PeterN as I believe he uses dual displays and Win10. Have you checked your LR Preferences with regard to “Performance” and having the “Use Graphics Processor” box checked? I also understand that some folks have been experiencing issues with the latest Win19 update, but I have no idea how that might be related to your issue. -- Regards, Savageduck |

I'm starting to come right only now which is why I have been a bit behind with many things. That said I am only using my Mac with a single display, and this is the first I have heard of this problem. That pretty much confirns that a problem exists. I guess you have to go through a bunch of diagnostic checks to see if this is an LR CCC, or Win10 only issue, or a conflict between the two. Then there is the hardware to be considered, an issue with the right side display, or cables, or a possible issue with your graphics card. Did you update both LR CCC and Win10 at the same time, or has the Win10 update been in use for other stuff before dealing with LR CCC? Do you use the dual screen for other stuff, and if so, does this problem manifest itself in anyway? Can you flip the left and right screens to check if the problem will move to the left? At this stage I can only wish you luck. -- Regards, Savageduck |

One system has an dual-monitor graphics card, and the other three video outputs on the motherboard. If the problem persists when move e.g. a Notepad display from one monitor to the other, perhaps the second monitor is no longer running in its native resolution? I agree with all the Duck's suggestions. -- Cheers, David Web: http://www.satsignal.eu |

I guess you have to go through a bunch of diagnostic checks to see if this is an LR CCC, or Win10 only issue, or a conflict between the two. Then there is the hardware to be considered, an issue with the right side display, or cables, or a possible issue with your graphics card. It seems to be a problem confined to LR. What I have found out since is that it seems to be a problem unpacking the apparently compressed image sent to the second screen. Some times if I wait the sharpness will suddenly jump to the next stage or even run to completion. Sometimes this will be triggered by an action in LR. Did you update both LR CCC and Win10 at the same time, or has the Win10 update been in use for other stuff before dealing with LR CCC? Win10 first, several weeks ago. LR yesterday. Win10 seems to be acting much the same as ever (except for the changes). Do you use the dual screen for other stuff, and if so, does this problem manifest itself in anyway? Apart from image processing, the main time that I am using both screens together I have Fire Fox on the left hand screen and Agent (news reader and email) on the right hand screen. Often something which comes in through Agent triggers a URL which needs Fire Fox. All that seems to be working OK. Can you flip the left and right screens to check if the problem will move to the left? I used to be able to do that. I haven't yet found where it has gone to in W10. I will try it when I find it. Later: I found it but as soon as I start it up the fuzzy LR display dissapears. I'm back to a single display. My conclusions so far a 1. It's not a hardware problem. 2. It is confined to LR CCC and seems to be in the software. I may have to resort to Adobe. :-( -- Regards, Eric Stevens |
