missouri and oklahoma at Thanksgiving?

Planning on taking a trip down the old route 66 alignment from St. Louis
to Amarillo texas over Thanksgiving. Anybody have any suggestions for
places to eat or hotels along the path. Also will be doing photography
for myself (for a change) and would like some ideas of what i might
expect, or any side trips off the alignment. I realize this isn't the
most beautiful time of the year but I need a serious week or so off.
Will have 35mm and 4x5 and would like to shoot black and white only.
