Digital quality (vs 35mm): Any real answers?

I think you are confusing actual media ("shelf") life with media
durability. Tapes are subject to wear and tear to a much higher degree
than e.g. CD, so their lifetime drops somewhat significantly if they are
used continually. For archival, purposes, however, tapes are usually

experience, since tape technology is more that 50 years old.

Tape begin deteriorating fairly rapidly after a certain point in time.
Additionally, it likes to stick together relatively quickly (3-5 years)
making playback difficult and requiring the user to unwind and wind the
reel several times.

I love tape for audio recording (it's the best limiter in the world),
but I wouldn't use it for archiving.

Photoimpex is where I buy my Efke film (maybe not as fine-grained, but
certainly cheaper).

OK....so Photoimpex is a well known place out there.........
I have heard a lot about the ISO 25 Efke....but never tried it.
It seems Photoimpex also have some interresting B/W paper.

Try the Efke 50 (I buy it in 30 metre rolls); Nearly the same quality as
the 25 with an extra stop.

But yes, I'll certainly try Gigabit this summer (if you can call it
that); I suppose in DK you have the same amount of light as in N Germany...
