Default List of cameras that use AA batteries

Hello all,

I'm doing a bit or travelling this winter, and I would like to get a
camera that can use AA batteries. I've been looking for a list but
I've only been able to find a couple cameras, and I don't want to miss
a good choice because there was so much detritus to sort through. I
was looking to spend roughly 300-500 and here's what I've found so
far:

-Fuji FinePix E500, E510, E550 (not much info o these because they're
brand new)
-Pentax WR43
-some Kodaks
-some Nikon CoolPixes

Any recommendations? The FinePixes have a lot of features for the
price, but are Fuji's optic components any good? I'm getting a little
overwhelmed with the choices.

Thanks,
Ben

DCResource provides a page where you can search for cameras with the
criterion that they use AA batteries, among other features:

It is a good idea Ben

Look at the geographic footprint covered by exotic power sources then
compare it with the geographic footprint for AA and AAA

If you end up in some exotic places - well, you know what I mean n d a

I have the Kodak DX6440 and it has been a solid performer. Many of the
later Kodak models have gone to the higher power density proprietary
Lithium Ion batteries. A mistake in my opinion.

Sony W1 (or W12). Low battery consumption also.

It supposedly has issues with "blurry pictures", but unless you are
unlucky enough to get a bad one, most of this is down to usage. See
various threads (also on the P100 which is essentially the same camera,
but not with AA batteries) in the Sony Forum in www.dpreviews.com .

The W1 looks like a rangefinder, while the P100 is slim and modern-looking
:-)
