The AF can be extremely fast in good condition and struggle quite a lot in low light condition. There is a bit improvement of low light AF from Z2 though but I would be glad to see KM include AF assist to this camera as well." http://photohobby.net/webboard/show....lldata&No=1171 Rick |

What is annoying about the S1 is that the anti-redeye light that is a bright orange light rather than a low-level pre-flash is more than capable of being an AF assist. In fact I thought the camera had one until I started getting out-of-focus flash photos. Maybe the S2 will have it...... ------ ~IRO My ambition in Life is to build something that will REALLY last....at least until I've finished building it. |

I guess the camera manufacturers are all afraid of getting lawsuits from people who say the've been blinded. A small, but bright flashlight with a well focussed beam should do the trick. Haven't really tried it though. Hans-Georg -- No mail, please. |

... The issue with low light isn't such a biggie to me. Learning how to use the camera in low light situations has been a big plus :-) There is a firmware update which definitely improves any snags. All in all, this is a great camera! ~Kimberlee This is where manual focus comes into play. At least, for those who can turn away from the automatic settings. dwight |

Where close up is concerned I dispair. I did some spring flowers yesterday and was not impressed. For the upcoming desert trip (flowers) I shall take the OLY 2100UZ as well as it has focus assist and Macro facility. Yesterday I brought out the Optio S which has the superMacro. Not a lot of trouble as that is always sitting in my short pocket when I am not asleep :-) B.Pedersen Latitude -31,48.21 Longitude115,47.40 Time=GMT+8.00 If you are curious look here http://www.mapquest.com/maps/latlong.adp http://www.members.iinet.net.au/~borge |
