No idea on the flash cycle on the HVL-F32 but I use an Incablitz 280-A and
the red eye is no longer a problem for indoor or outdoor shots and it cycles
in about 1.5 seconds. Cost me $80 Aust (US$55).

I do not know the recycle time but depending on the ambient light you
might find it tolerable. The on camera flash will not fire once the
external flash is installed. Also, color saturation does not seem to be
an issue, it is as good as when shhoting without the flash if the
lighting is sufficient.

The V1 is a mighty mouse of cameras and I wish I still had mine.

Additionally, you might ask about the extender telephoto - it is very
sharp and F4. Also, you can attach filters and such with the adapter.

Never heard of that?? Does it do TTL with the V1?
