Well the phone I have owned all set the time from the network.

display the local time, you need to set the offset from GMT
appropriately. For example, here in the Los Angeles area, we were 7
hours behind GMT. Now we are 8 hours behind GMT. So the GPS DOES need
to be adjusted.

My GPS doesn't need adjusting becuase it knows when to adjust for
daylight saving time, just as the computer does. I have a Garmin GPS

Speaking of time, what is the time that appears in the right hand column of
these postings? Is it the local time of the one submitting the post or is
it converted to some "standard" time? I've always been curious about this.

That question is specific to your particular software. No times
appear in a right-hand column in any software I use for Usenet.

The date header in each posting contains timezone information; the
question is, does your software display it as is, or stripped of the
timezone information (this is clearly wrong), or converted to your
local time?
