While they are waiting for their Green Card.

I have a friend who has a long-distance relationship with a guy in San
Diego. But she has serious doubt to move to the US to marry him, given
how rotten the situation is in the country right now. And the fun is,
he understands her fears quite well.
The ones who want to come in via a green card, are usually uneducated
opportunity seekers. Anyone with half a brain, doesn't want to go to a
police-state anymore.

That's an overstated misconception on your part.

You'll find out soon if you re-elect shrub. Go for it, I beg you, and
let the guy bring your country on its knees. As you see nowadays, the
US is pretty much alone in their self-appointed role as great defender
of freedom of people, and that is a costly business. I bet your taxes
will start rising, after Bush is re-elected, to finance his wars. If
that happens, you got what you deserved. But it might of course be
you don't mind to pay extra taxes to sent your soldiers overseas...

Yo, Rata!

However fervent you feel about your position, it's simply taking up
space in a bunch of unrelated NGs.

...... or are you aware that you're doing so? I am sure there are many
NG's that'd love to debate whatever you write....

Anyone with half a brain wouldn't say it was a police state.
Anyone who wasn't terrorist sympathizer wouldn't say it was
a police state.

Do I like George Bush, No. & I have the right to voice that
as loudly as I like.

Ditch the Patriot act then. And all the draconic measures taken after
9/11. They won't help. If someone wants to do you harm from the
inside, they will find a way. Money helps a lot. And the terrorist
supporters have plenty of that.

You frequently did, that's true. My apologies if you felt personally
attacked in my other post, but it was supposed to be more general.

No you called him a terrorist sympathizer. At least that's the way your
posting sounds.

A certain measure of Draconian was needed at the time. There probably
were abuses, nothing new to governments though, no matter where one lives.

Vigilance is a requirement at this point, a better tact would be refinements of
the Patriot act. Who comes into this country we need to know
who they are whether they have good intentions. You don't suggest otherwise, do you?

Apologies accepted.

If you look at the logic of your post that's exactly what you did.
