Now We Know Why The New Zeiss Ikon Isn't Being Made By Kyocera
I thought that this was a hoax when I first saw it on another NG, but it
appears that Kyocera is, indeed, shutting down all production of film AND digital cameras, meaning that Contax RTS-III and medium format Contax 645, among others, will be gone. The news article, dated March 3, said in part, "Kyocera has already stopped production of film and digital cameras, and the various international operations are being prepared for closure. The reasons given were purely market-related (in other words not because of financial difficulties), with Kyocera now concentrating on its mobile phone and semiconductor business." |
