Where I live, in MA, that's cold comfort. A

means losing one's safe driver credit for 6 years.
6 x $120, if I remember correctly.

a warning shouldn't be on your record.

i consider long island to be the outskirts of nyc, just as san diego is
a suburb of los angeles, which itself is a suburb of nyc.

Take a look at a map.
In no way is San Diego a suburb of Los Angeles.

officially no, but the reality is that it is.

That is like saying San Jose, Oakland, and Sacramento are suburbs of
San Francisco.

yep. exactly like it.

it's called the san francisco bay area, not the san jose bay area, and
san francisco itself is called the city. as for oakland, there is no
there there. sacramento is not even worth stopping, except maybe for
fuel.

The reality is San Diego is not by any sense of the
imagination, a suburb of L.A.

officially no, but the reality is it is.

There is a 120-130 mile
drive between the two cities.

so what? los angeles itself is *huge*. 120mi is nothing.

So Philidelphia is a suburb of NYC, after all they are only 95 miles
apart, and that is nothing.

yep. it's a short ride on acela and lots of people do that very commute.

I guess we should check with Tony as to how he feels hearing that
Orlando, Tallahassee, Fort Meyers, and St. Petersburg are all suburbs
of Miami. I guess there are many of these mega-cities in the USA. Such
as New Orleans-Baton Rouge; Chicago-Gary, IN; Nashville-Memphis;
Dallas-Huston-Austin. Who would have guessed?

That's just what they call it. It's rare for someone
to just get an unofficial, verbal warning. This is an
actual ticket with no fee, known as a warning. I
suppose the point is to have a record in case you
commit the same infraction again. But whether or not
one gets a ticket with a fee means little compared
to the insurance surcharge.

it depends on the reason for the stop. it does happen.

cops can see previous written warnings, which can influence their
decision on whether you're going to get another warning or a citation.

the rmv doesn't care (anymore) and you shouldn't be seeing an insurance
penalty unless you actually do get a citation.

actually, they're all suburbs of new york city, particularly boca raton
and west palm beach. south florida is where new yorkers go before they
die, with some not making it quite as far south as boca and ending up
further north. it's really just the next stop on the 123. miami itself
is a suburb of cuba.

Still doesn't make Philly a suburb of NYC.
